RD-6 - 2" x 50' (24 rolls)
Overview
RD-6 provides corrosion protection resulting from the polymer modified coating layer. Bonded to the outside surface of this coating is a strong, tightly woven, polypropylene geotextile fabric, which provides non-shielding properties plus high breaking strength and low elongation. RD-6 coating is manufactured in rolls for ease of application using a Polyguard approved machine such as the Wrapster or power operated machine. RD-6 is produced with a silicone coated release liner to prevent the layers from adhering to one another and assist in the application process.
The RD-6 Coating System, which, alongside RD-6, includes the use of SP-6 Outerwrap and UV Overcoat, is a non-shielding anti-corrosion system applied on buried and submerged line pipe, rehabilitation and new construction girth welds. RD-6 can also be used above ground but the coating must be protected from harmful UV rays by using Polyguard UV Overcoat. The System consists of a liquid adhesive, a geotextile backed protective pipeline coating and SP-6 Outerwrap. RD-6 is compatible for pipelines operating up to 145°F (63°C); for pipes operating above 145°F, RD-6 HT must be used.
Sold in carton quantities, price is per carton.
Polyguard RD-6 Pipeline Coating FAQ
- What is RD-6 used for?
RD-6 is a non-shielding pipeline coating designed to protect pipelines from corrosion while allowing cathodic protection currents to reach the pipe surface. - How is RD-6 installed?
The coating is applied in a spiral wrap over primed pipe surfaces and is compatible with field joints, bends, and irregular shapes. - Why choose RD-6 instead of traditional coatings?
Unlike shielded coatings, RD-6 minimizes the risk of disbondment and corrosion under the wrap, extending pipeline service life.
